Jake here, and its been a while since the last update (exactly 3 months as you can see). But here is a small tidbit for you. Matt Hubbard, who was brought on to Avatar to write the "Imprisoned" episode, the sixth episode of Book 1: Water, won an Emmy for Best Writing for an episode of the hit NBC comedy series "30 Rock." All the details are at this link, so check it out. The irony here is Hubbard wrote a little bit more of a serious episode, though 106 did have it's humor ("Earthbending style" scene comes to mind), anaaaaaaaaad Hubbard seems to be a bit of a jokester.
It doesn't appear as though Hubbard did any other work on Avatar. However, it's good to see some Avatar alumni having success well after they left the show. |

Jake here, and http://www.thelastairbendermovie.com/ has officially launched. If you have not yet seen the teaser, click the link above and after it loads, click the Play icon to watch. It is very intriguing, and makes you wonder "How am I going to survive the next year until this movie comes out?". It looks preetty cool, and the Fire Nation ships look spectacular. It would be nice if this would silence the anti-casters, but it probably won't.
On that note, if you cannot already tell this movie will be heavily promoted, with an emphasis on "heavily." A trailer and site a year before it's premiere is a sign Paramount will be promoting this thing a lot, in hopes of having the series become the next Harry Potter.
James Newton Howard, the award-winning composer for the movie, also composed the trailer, and I have to say it is remarkable, and pretty close to the show. If this is a true teaser and not just made up to please the fans, I think this movie will turn out to be very amazing.
There's going to be a new poll up in a minute for reactions. Looking forward to your reactions. |

Jake here, and everyone should plan on tuning into Entertainment Tonight (check local listings) on Monday, June 22nd, for the exclusive premiere of the sneak peak trailer for "The Last Airbender," due in theaters in shortly over a year, July 2, 2010. This is pretty exciting, and also don't forget you can see the trailer on the big screen at the beginning of "Transformers 2," being released next week. You should check your local listings and set your DVRs/VCRs (if those even exist anymore) appropriately. Here it airs at 7 pm EDT on the local NBC affiliate; however, it is a syndicated show so I believe it varies in the every region. |

Jake here, and finally there is some big news. USA Today has posted a new article on the movie, and right there on the article page is nothing other than a picture of Noah Ringer - the first look at him - in character, of course. In addition, there is one of Dev Patel as Zuko surrounded by - what else - fire.
Check out the article (link above) to see the pictured. I think Noah looks pretty good (though he needs to learn how to smile - and a lot). Dev looks good too, certainly has the "Everyone-hates-me" look Zuko carried for much of the first season. Sadly, I don't think these will do anything but add fuel to the fire of the Aang Ain't White groupies. Oh well, it is their loss.
In case you haven't been doing so already, you should check out TLA Producer Frank Marshall's Twitter. He has been updating there pretty regularly with some nice tidbits. |

Dylan here and /Film confirms that the first "The Last Airbender" trailer will be shown before "Transformers 2." They get this news from Frank Marashall's Twitter. "Transformers 2" premiers on June 24. I'd say don't expect too much actual movie footage in the trailer as they are still filming and will probably still be in June as well. |

Dylan here and Avatar has won a Peabody award! Peabody awards are awards for radio and TV and are the oldest awards for electronic media. Avatar is honored because of "Unusually complex characters and healthy respect for the consequences of warfare enhanced this American-made, anime-influenced martial-arts adventure." Congrats to all of the former Avatar crew! |
