Dylan along with Jake, Alisa, Josh, and Michelle first discuss the recent early release of the Sozin's Comet book in the news segment and then go way in-depth into "The Western Air Temple."...see more
Comic Con is underway and we should have some videos from Kevin at some point today or tomorrow. We've set-up a special page where you can track all the happenings at Comic Con. It is here.
Also, what I reported weeks ago has been confirmed, the season 3 premiere will be September 21st.
Already on that page is a thumbnail/link to the poster that was at Comic Con, promoting an event that sent fans at the Con on a scavenger hunt to find 5 cards and then after they get all 5 cards they go back to the Nick booth for a 6th card with the season 3 premiere date on it!
So get ready! The Avatar panel is this Saturday at 10:30 am PT (1:30 pm ET)!
We're looking for some dedicated people to help out with the planning for Elemental Week II, which will lead up to the season premiere. Tentative dates are from September 17th-21st. We may expand it to include the Sunday or not. Planning has now begun and we're looking for ideas to make EW II a blast for the fans as we ring in season 3 in style! It'll all end up with an amazing night of trivia (I'll probably be hosting because Dylan will be busy that night) and live chat throughout the premiere!
Here are the areas we need help in:
Event Planning Event Execution
More openings may be available. Email if you are interested. Basically we're looking for ideas and people who can pull off those ideas. And we only want people who will be dedicated to making this a success!
Edit: Also, the 9th podcast previewing Comic Con and including Kevin's amazing interview with fan artists Irrel is on it. Go to the podcast page to get it now.
Programming Note: We're gonna have a lot of stuff coming at you this weekend. The thing you are going to want to look forward to the most is (or maybe one of the things) is a special interview our own Kevin Coppa has secured! We won't tell you who it is yet (leave it as a surprise!) but it is a pretty big one, so you have that to look forward to, in addition to the Avatar season 3 info.
This week Avatar received one of the most prestigious nominations a television show can get: an Emmy nomination. The nominations for the 59th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were released recently and Nickelodeon's animation gem was found on the list for "Outstanding Animated Program (for Programming Less Than One Hour)," specifically for episode 214 "City of Walls and Secrets."
Unlike the Annie Awards or any of the other awards Avatar has been nominated for/won, the Emmy Awards feature the top players in the entire entertainment industry (while the Annies only showcase the best of animation). To have Avatar now grouped as one of the elite shows, it looks to gamer another award and go out with a bang next season.
One can only think if Nickelodeon is slowly reconsidering not doing a 4th season for the show, especially if the show wins the Emmy. The awards are handed out on Sunday, September 16th, the week that Avatar season 3 will premiere. What a huge way to kick off the new season (and generate a lot of buzz for it) than an Emmy Award? The Emmys will air on Fox (check local listings) on Sept. 16th.
So the Avatar Trophy Case has been updated to include Avatar's latest nomination. Specific people nominations have yet to be announced, though its likely going to include creators/executive producers Mike and Bryan, head writer/co-executive producer Aaron Ehasz and possibly Tim Hedrick, the episode's writer.
For the entire listing of nominees for the 59th Annual Primetime Emmys, go to the official Emmys website.
I am happy to be able to tell you today that I have a pretty good idea of when season 3 will air.
Now in recent weeks info has come out, including the release date for the Book 3, Volume 1 DVD, that has made fans speculate as to when season 3 will air. Well I have pretty solid confirmation on an airdate for season 3 (90-freaking percent). And since I'm very, very, very evil, I will make you click the "Read more..." link in order to see it. Now do it!
First off, Jake here *editing* Dylan's original post because I think we have some more crucial information. Paramount has released the box art and release date for the Book 3: Fire, Volume 1 DVD. It is slated for release on October 30th, 2007. This is according to TVShowsonDVD.com. The first five episodes will be available ("The Awakening", "The Headband", "The Painted Lady", "Sokka's Master", and "The Beach") and the commentator there concludes that season 3 will premiere on either the third or fourth Friday in September, you can see how he came to that conclusion there. Cover art looks great. And now...
