Dylan along with Jake, Alisa, Josh, and Michelle first discuss the recent early release of the Sozin's Comet book in the news segment and then go way in-depth into "The Western Air Temple."...see more
First off, I, Jake, received this special trailer in my email box yesterday! It is an exclusive trailer Nick will be airing on its network and online. My contact was able to obtain a copy and leak it to me, with their permission to use it! Here's the trailer!
And secondly, there is a rumor floating around at Nickelodeon that Avatar will return May 9th with an hour-long movie comprised of episodes 312 and 313. Again this is only a rumor but apparently it will be liked last season when 210/211 were aired as a movie, and 212/213 shortly after that. So look out for an announcement at the New York Comic Con officially!
Just two months after plucking Eric Coleman away from Nickelodeon, Disney has acquired the rights to the Avatar live-action film (and possible trio) that is to be produced by M. Night Shyamalan. It also appears as though Disney has made an announcement about an addition to the creative team for the movie, bringing on famed director Tim Burton.
This all comes from this week's upcoming TV Guide, and there is a scan as proof! A thumbnail is listed below, click for full view.
Also, Dylan here just making sure you all see the new podcast at the podcast page . It is an extension of the last podcast.
Dylan here and wow. Just when you thought things couldn't get any more crazy. Here we go:
According to the NYCC site , Mike and Bryan will be at an Avatar panel SEPERATE from the Dave Roman one of Saturday April 19th from 3:00-4:00 PM EST. Here is the event description:
"Into the Inferno: Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender Finale
Get an insider's look at the explosive 2-hour movie event as the adventures of Aang, the last Airbender culminate in a head to head battle with the Fire Lord Ozai. The panel will be packed with exclusive sneak peeks of upcoming episodes, production art, the official trailer for the highly anticipated finale and a Q&A with special guests, show creators BryanKonietzko and Mike DiMartino. Moderated by Megan Casey, Executive in Charge for Nickelodeon."
Yes, this does change the Air date situation a little, but for now I'm just excited for this panel! More to come including possible Dongbu Feng coverage.
Dylan here with an update on the air date again. The April Highlights are now out and there's no Avatar on them. Nothing to worry about. There's nothing on them that says 312 couldn't air on April 18th. And there was nothing from Viacom today either. The next date to watch out, and this one is the kicker, Thursday Morning. If 312 will air on April 18th, it will show up on TvGuide Thursday Morning. Stay tuned.
Dylan here updating you guys on the current situation with the airdate (yes, it has changed since hours ago). Well, obviously the date wasn't revealed at the KCAs (but Avatar still won, woo!). So now, we have when will the date be revealed, and also a complication now arising.
First let's state the complication. There will be a Zoey 101 movie on May 2nd. That means no Avatar that Friday. That means even if 312 does air on April 18th, it still will not meet the DVD deadline of May 6th. So something has got to give. Who knows what will yet.
Even with that complication we still have to look out for when 312 will air. Monday is a big day with likely April Highlights and new Viacom Press Releases. Then look out for Thursday Morning on TvGuide. If it is airing on April 18th, it will show up Thursday Morning.
Sir Jake and Captain Dylan here with some exciting news: AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER HAS WON THE KIDS CHOICE AWARD FOR FAVORITE CARTOON! WOOOOOHOOOO!!!!
...Now that we got that out of our systems, congrats to the entire staff of the show. It's not the most prestigous award, but after 2 years of not even being nominated, it feels good to finally be recognized on Nickelodeon.
And a shout out to all the fans who voted Avatar up on Nick.com, WE DID IT! *cue confetti and balloons falling from the ceiling* Once again, congrats to the staff, the fandom and anybody else worth congratulating on garnering this award.
Jake here. So when will we find out when Avatar will return? Let's look at a few possibilities:
The Kids Choice Awards - This is unlikely, as they are tonight, but it's nevertheless possible. Watch out for a possible commercial, but don't be disappointed if there isn't.
Nickelodeon April Highlights - The last Friday of each month usually CableTVTalk.com brings us Nick highlights for the next month. Well with this upcoming Monday being the 31st, there is a chance April highlights will be out, and there is a chance Avatar could be included within those highlights. They are not always on time, however, so they could come any time this week if they aren't there Monday.
New York Comic Con - Yes I know this is late April, the 18th-20th to be exact. There is supposed to be a fan-panel there. (See more on fan panel) There is a comment in one of his journal entries - can be found here on the last page (thanks sokkafan again!) - where Dave Roman of Nick magazine says he thinks an announcement will be made on new episodes at the convention. This could realistically be the last opportunity for such an announcement to occur, so we will see.
These are the times when we, the fans, can be expected to hear the date. Nick may be careful about telling the staff about it, though, because 1) not all staff members are still with Nick, and 2) because of past leaks... hehe.
Do you have an idea for when Nick could announce the date? Email me at
with your theories, and I may post some of them!
Jake here. KCA voting has been going on for a couple weeks now, and if you're not living under a rock, by now you know that Avatar was nominated for Favorite Cartoon. We must take that "sea sponge," as Master Pakku would say, down! So VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!
Here are the links: Main KCA site or WAP site. Make sure you vote for all categories or your ballot will not be counted!
And right now I'm leaning towards theory #6 for the airing schedule of the rest of season. Theory #5 is good also, but at this point Nick isn't fooling around with Avatar.
Dylan here. What has been the biggest surprise in the fandom in the past month? Well, it's that nothing's happened. A couple weeks ago I said I thought we'd get a Press Release soon. Well, I stand by that. I think Monday is a really good chance for one. Now, where else could we hear about the date? Well, the April Highlights for one. But they likely won't come out until March 31st this month, so they probably won't be first with the date. Also keep checking TVGuide for it to show up on Thursday Mornings, but I still think it'll show up in a press release first.
