Katara is the responsible one in the group.  She is the first person Aang saw after he got “un-froze” from the iceberg.  Katara is fourteen and lived in the South Pole with her tribe. She was the only Waterbender in the tribe, and her mother was killed in a Fire Nation raid.  Her father went to fight when she was 12.  Her warrior brother is Sokka, and her grandmother is Gran Gran.  She always believed the Avatar would retu .  Then on a fishing trip, Katara and Sokka find Aang in an iceberg.  Then Aang comes with them on their jou ey.

Katara is a Waterbender in training.  Since she was the only Waterbender in her tribe, she had to teach herself. Now she knows basic moves, like the water-whip. This is really eager to lea more.  When she was teaching Aang to Waterbend, she got jealous of how good he was and fast he lea ed. Katara yelled at him, but apologized.  She sneaked out at night to practice Waterbending, which caused trouble.  This shows that she goes through great extent for her ambitions.

Katara does the “house work” like sewing up clothes, getting water, cleaning, etc.  She gets furious when Sokka acts irresponsibly or chauvinistic.  She has a high temper and yells when she is mad.  Basically, she shows great emotion.  Katara is the only main character that is a g irl, so that can be a pain for her too.  She cares so much for Aang, almost like a little brother.   And deep down, she really cares for Sokka, her older brother, as well, even if at times she doesn’t show it too well.
