Arnook is the leader of the Northern Water Tribe. We first met him at a banquet he held to celebrate his daughter becoming old enough to marry and the arrival of Aang and company. He introduced Aang to the man that would teach him Waterbending, Master Pakku. After a few days Arnook and other members of the tribe were talking to Katara and Aang about Aang teaching Katara Waterbending, since it’s against the rules of the tribe for a female to lea Waterbending. The meeting was started to determine if Pakku would become Aang’s teacher again. Arnook said he wouldn’t force him to teach Aang but if Katara apologized Pakku may change his mind. Well she didn’t. When the Fire Nation approached the Water Tribe Arnook asked for volunteers to help fight against the Fire Nation. Sokka was on of the volunteers. While he was talking to the volunteers about how they would fight Fire Nation he told them that they would infiltrate the navy ships disguised as Fire navy crew members. Sokka laughed at what was the suggested costume asking if the costume was a hundred years old. Arnook told him that it wasn’t... it was eighty five years old. Arnook told Sokka to tell everything he knew about Admiral Zhao and the Fire Nation to his would be son in law Hahn. In time Sokka and Hahn started fighting and Arnook removed Sokka from the mission, he latter told Sokka that he did this so Sokka would protect his daughter Yue. We see him one last time after hearing from Sokka that Yue sacrificed her life to save the Moon Spirit. Arnook tells Sokka that when Yue was born he had a dream about a beautiful woman who became the moon spirit. He knew that this day would come. And with that he tells Sokka that he is proud, and sad.
