Mai, the daughter of the Fire Nation Governor of New Ozai (previously known as Omashu) is a very bored teenager, and is not a very emotional . She has known Azula for awhile, for they both went to The Royal Academy for Girls. Mai is very skilled with star-like knives (anyone have any better way of describing them?) and is a great fighter.

Unlike most s she isn't very social and excited very easily. Her black hair is always up and her dressing is very gloomy and dark. She seems to have a past with Prince Zuko although this is not confirmed, yet. Mai is a mysterious and there are many things for us yet to know about Mai.

Mai has a toddler-age brother named Tom Tom as well, and in an effort to show how much she cares for him, she rescinded a trade which would have safely brought him back to her family. At present time she does not know where her brother his, as she left with Azula and Ty Lee before Tom Tom was returned to his parents.

Now, the young Mai will add a bit of excitement to her life, heading off with Princess Azula and acrobat Ty Lee on an adventure to capture both Iroh and Zuko and the Avatar. Most likely they will be traveling by foot, however. It appeared as if maybe Mai had a bit of a crush, or at least a good relationship, with Zuko, as when Ty Lee said, “It'll be interesting to see Zuko again, won't it Mai?”, Mai smiled.
