Ursa is mother of Zuko and Azula and wife of Fire Lord Ozai. We only see her in flashbacks from the episode “Zuko Alone”. We first see her with Zuko at a duck pond were they talk to one another for some time before Zuko throws a rock at the ducks and the mother bits Zuko. Ursa tells Zuko that’s what a mother does when someone threatens her children she bits back. Ursa’s husband Ozai wasn’t originally meant to become Fire Lord after Azulon but rather Iroh. Ursa would latter get a message from Iroh about the Siege of Ba Sing Se and he sent both Zuko and Azula gifts. Later Azulon had Ursa and the rest of the family meet him in his Throne room. There Ozai had Azula show her skill at Firebending in an attempt to impress Azulon, but Zuko also wanted to prove himself to his grandfather and tried to do a similar routine but failed. Ursa comforted him saying that he becomes stronger by struggling though things. After Zuko’s failed routine Ursa, Azula, and Zuko to leave so he could talk to Ozai alone.

Later that night Ursa entered Zuko’s bedroom to find Azula telling him something that obviously upset him. Ursa took Azula out of Zuko’s room to have a talk with her. In the middle of the night Ursa wakes Zuko from his sleep and tells him that everything she has done she has done for him and to keep him safe. With that she leaves his room pulls a hood over her head and disappears.

What happened to her and what lead her to her disappearance has been an issue of debate over many Avatar forums. We can only speculate until future episodes elaborate on the background of her story and the events that took place.

Ursa was briefly mentioned in "The Earth King" during Zuko's dreams.  In one of his dreams, a blue dragon (voiced by Azula) was trying to convince Zuko to go to bed.  The blue dragon's quote was "Sleep... just like mother."  The following seconds saw Zuko's mother, with her saying "Zuko, help me!".  Her fate is stll unknown, however, Zuko will apparently be looking for her in season 3, the creators said in an interview on Nick.com.
