Age: 12 Nation: Earth Birthplace: Gaoling
Fanlistings: Toph Beifong AKA the Blind Bandit is the newest member of Aang’s group. Toph is a very skilled Earthbender but there is something else about Toph she’s blind. Now how could someone who is blind be a great Earthbender? Well much like the marvel Character Dare she has amplified senses. In her case she is able to see vibrations through the earth. Toph herself is daughter to a very wealthy Earth Nation family and although they do love her they are also overly protective of her and see her as someone who is delicate and vulnerable. And because of her parents perception of her Toph kept her actual ability away from them. And her ability is very impressive she was able to win the earth tournament two years in a row and she was able to defeat her final opponent with no effort at all. When the announcer of the tournament gives and open challenge to anyone who thinks they can beat ‘The Blind Bandit’ they will be rewarded with money. Aang challenges Toph but his concern isn’t the money but with talking to Toph. She isn’t interested in talking and attacks him. Aang is able to beat her using Airbending, after loosing Toph leaves the arena without talking to Aang. Later the Boulder, the opponent Toph beat to retain her title, tells Xin Fu, the host of the tournament, that there was no contact when ‘the Blind Bandit’ lost. They both now think that Toph took a dive so Aang and she could split the money. When Aang and company shows up at her house he tries to convince her to teach him Earthbending but she refuses. Then Aang and Toph are captured by participants of the Earth Tournament thinking that Toph took a dive so Aang and she could split the money. Toph’s family along with Katara and Sokka go to the place where Aang and Toph are being held when the money is paid the men release Toph but not Aang saying that the Fire Lord would pay much more for him. Now Toph had no option but to show her parents what she was keeping from them as she is able to defeat all the Earthbenders in a matter of moments then frees Aang. Now having learned what kind of life Toph has been leading her parents decide that she needs to be watched and guarded even more and tell Aang and his friends to leave. Toph says goodbye. But just when Aang and company are about to leave Toph comes running to the group telling them that her father changed his mind and that she can travel with them. But her father never did and now thinking Aang kidnapped her sends Toph’s teacher and the Announcer out to bring her back. Character description written by I Speak The Truth
