Dylan here and UGO spoke with Mike and Bryan at Comic Con. Here's the new info that came out of it. The Korra Info Tracker has been updated accordingly:
- The Cabbage Merchant's legacy will be present in some form
- The show will still keep the "humor, fun hybrid animals, and action."
- There will be plenty of romance in the story
- Aang will have some kind of presence "in his way."
- Mike and Bryan will write each episode |

Dylan here and WSJ has a supposed plot summary for Korra:
"Korra’s quest eventually leads her to Republic City–the epicenter of the world of “Avatar.” A metropolis powered by steampunk-type technology, the city is inhabited by people from all nations. Korra finds that Republic City suffers from rampant crime and is also dealing with an anti-bender revolt. Korra is tutored by Aang’s son, Tenzin, is the ways of airbending."
The article also says Korra is from the Southern Water Tribe and that the show will take place 70 years after ATLA. While 70 years is inconsistent with our information, things could have easily changed. |

Jake here, with an exciting announcement: ABCNews.com has confirmed "The Legend of Korra" will be premiering in 2011! The spin-off we announced months ago (but we weren't sure about the name until now) has finally been confirmed by Nickelodeon. The article says Korra is a female teenage Avatar who is "hotheaded, independent and 'ready to take on the world.'"
I'm working on an opinion piece about the series which will be forthcoming in the next few weeks. But for now, we have another series to look forward to in the Avatar world. ATLA premiered in February 2005, so we'll see if ATLK follows the same timeframe. Hopefully an exact date will be forthcoming.
Thanks to Dylan for the heads up! |
