Jake here, and finally there is some big news. USA Today has posted a new article on the movie, and right there on the article page is nothing other than a picture of Noah Ringer - the first look at him - in character, of course. In addition, there is one of Dev Patel as Zuko surrounded by - what else - fire.
Check out the article (link above) to see the pictured. I think Noah looks pretty good (though he needs to learn how to smile - and a lot). Dev looks good too, certainly has the "Everyone-hates-me" look Zuko carried for much of the first season. Sadly, I don't think these will do anything but add fuel to the fire of the Aang Ain't White groupies. Oh well, it is their loss.
In case you haven't been doing so already, you should check out TLA Producer Frank Marshall's Twitter. He has been updating there pretty regularly with some nice tidbits. |

Dylan here and /Film confirms that the first "The Last Airbender" trailer will be shown before "Transformers 2." They get this news from Frank Marashall's Twitter. "Transformers 2" premiers on June 24. I'd say don't expect too much actual movie footage in the trailer as they are still filming and will probably still be in June as well. |

(Note: This has nothing to do with April Fool's Day XD)
Dylan here and Avatar has won a Peabody award! Peabody awards are awards for radio and TV and are the oldest awards for electronic media. Avatar is honored because of "Unusually complex characters and healthy respect for the consequences of warfare enhanced this American-made, anime-influenced martial-arts adventure." Congrats to all of the former Avatar crew! |

Jake here. It appears as though M. Night Shyamalan is finally ready to shoot "The Last Airbender."
Over two years after the project was initially announced by Paramount, Shyamalan and his cast are ready to begin filming in Greenland. According to this article - which also contains the first image of the movie (or what we suspect is from the movie) we have seen - filming will begin one week from today, on March 23, and last until April 3rd. In those 11 days, they will film approximately six minutes of the film.
We can only speculate if this estimate is right, but if it is, hopefully it is just the Southern Water Tribe scenes, and not the scenes at the end in the Northern Water Tribe.
Also the article states scenes have already been filmed in Vietnam. This is the first we are hearing of this, though, and their information could be accurate or forward-looking. Guess we'll find out soon enough.
You can most likely look for a trailer or some other sort of teaser this summer in June or July, though that's just a guesstimate. Things are certainly progressing though, which is a good sign. |

Jake here, and the casting of three major Fire Nation characters has been announced by Paramount. Aasif Mandvi has been cast as Commander/Admiral Zhao. Mandvi has been correspondent for "The Daily Show" and appears in two upcoming movies, "The Proposal" and "7 to the Palace."
The Dragon of the West, Uncle Iroh, will be played by Shaun Toub, whose films credits include "Iron Man" and "The Kite Runner."
Cliff Curtis will be playing the main villain, Firelord Ozai. Curtis was in "Crossing Over" and is in the upcoming film "A Thousand Words." Curtis also had a role in the 2007 thriller "Live Free or Die Hard."
Another small casting is Keong Sim, who is described as an "Earthbending Father." Could be Tyro, or perhaps a different, new character.
Check out each of the actor's IMDB profiles by clicking their names above. Let us know what you think of the castings in the C-Box in the tab on the top of the page. |

Dylan here and today's Washington Post featured an article on the search for Mongolian extras in Virginia. The article includes a picture of a young American Mongolian boy wearing a beige smock. Casting director DeeDee Ricketts says they are looking for extras for the Earth Kingdom. You can read the article here if you have a Washington Post account, if not I've scanned the article and you can see it here and here. |
