Dylan along with Jake, Alisa, Josh, and Michelle first discuss the recent early release of the Sozin's Comet book in the news segment and then go way in-depth into "The Western Air Temple."...see more
Dylan here with a post before we get into the hecticness of this week. We have episodes most of us have seen Monday-Wednesday. I ask all of you for the good of the show to please rewatch 312-315 as they air on Nick at 8 PM. The ratings needs us. Then of course watch Thursday and Friday for 316 and 317, and the series finale on Saturday. Nick has done their part in advertising for the finale. While it may be in the Summer, this thing still has a chance to explode in ratings. Do your part and get everyone you can this week to watch Saturday night. One last thing I ask of you guys; Enjoy the finale. It may not come out how all of us want, not just talking about shipping here (for more on that see the post below this one), but it will be amazing. It's the last time we'll see new episodes from this original, magical crew. Enjoy it. Have a great week guys, this is going to be special.
Note: I am bringing this back to the forefront so you all remember this over the next week. Because unlike the presidential election (for those in the US), it does not matter one bit at all who Katara or Toph or Azula end up with and won't affect our lives one bit moving forward.
This is Jake, and I think it's time or an “opinion” article on shipping. I think we need a balanced debate on shipping, as the fandom has been going wild over the last week, since the season “finale” trailer was shown at New York Comic Con last Saturday. Now you may not agree with everything I have to say, but please just read.
Dylan here reporting that in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, Kate Ward reviewed "Sozin's Comet" giving it the grade of a B with a generally positive review. A criticism she gives is that the plot isn't heavy enough for 2 hours, but she praises the animation. Click here to see the review. Scan by me.
Jake here, and I wanted to make this point again - the finale was written for 90 minutes, not 2 hours. The creators did decide to make the animation double for episode 320, giving us 321. So that could go to explain the critic's point of the plot not being "heavy enough" for 2 hours. This could have been a Nick decision or a decision by the creators, we just don't know, but the good thing is the animation will be amazing.
From the edit of this post, we have 6 days, 7 hours and 55 minutes until the finale airs on the East Coast!
Click the link above, and click on the bubble that says "Top Rated" and it is the first video that will play.
Thanks to RayRay for the heads up!
Also - with only one week until the big epik amazingly awesomeful terrific super-duper suspenseful finale, I'm linking to a finale trailer which is up there with the finale in terms of epicness. It's a series finale trailer by the fandom's own Ravenhpltc24. Check it out!
Also, as a side note, I'm looking into organizing a fandom-wide finale chat on the Avatar Olympics site on the night of the finale. If you have a good chat script to recommend, email me at
I'm also considering using just an IRC client, so if you have knowledge of that please let me know as well! And we will be in need of mods for the night (we want to control the spoilers in the live chat) so also send me an email if that's something you would like to do! Thanks!
