New Title + Voting Continues
Jan 14, 2007 at 07:59 PM

Ok, so I am proud to announce I have in my knowledge a new season 3 episode title spoiler!  This time it is episode 3.3.  Next time I will have 3.2, and then the season 3 premiere title will follow.  Like we did with "The Crossroads of Destiny" (2.20) and "Sokka's Master" (3.4), we will play "Guess that Episode Title"!

This title is very interesting... I wouldn't be surprised if no one got it!  Ok, I'll give you two initial hints, and you can guess away in the C-Box on the right.  Hint #1: It's three words.  Hint #2: The second word begins with a P and is past tense.

And I have decided to extend voting for the Fan Awards first poll through Monday.  So if you haven't voted yet, please get to it!

New Comments Feature, Quotes, Links and More
Jan 11, 2007 at 04:09 PM

Just wanted to jump on here quickly to alert you we do have some new features here on Dongbu Feng.  There is now a "Comment" feature for each article.  This goes for news, characters and episodes.  If you want to comment on a news item, click the link at the top from the home page or News section page and scroll to the bottom.  You have to leave your name and a valid email, though, but your email won't be displayed on the site or even seen by anyone other than myself, and I won't send out spam or anything dumb like that to you.  All comments first must go through my approval, but that's just to make sure nothing bad is on a random comment somewhere and I don't find it in time.  Please start commenting on the updates, charatcters and episodes!

There's also a new "Quote of the Moment" feature you may have been noticing on the left-hand side of your screen.  It basically displays a random quote from an Avatar episode every time you refresh/go to another page on this site (just the site, not the forums or gallery).  Right now I'm working on quotes from episode 1.7, but I thought I'd put it up anyway.  Basically you can relive the great quotes of Avatar with every click!

Links are mostly updated.  Still have quite a few character pages to fix up, but other than that they're all good to go!

Oh and don't forget - if you haven't casted your votes in this week's two categories (favorite comedic episode and favorite episode director) you can do on this page.  Voting will end roughly around Saturday night.

M. Night Shyamalan Inks Deal to Bring the Avatar to Big Screen
Jan 09, 2007 at 02:51 PM

In a move which have many Avatar fans up in arms, famous director M. Night Shyamalan ("Lady in the Water", "The Village", "Signs", "The Sixth Sense"), has inked a deal with Paramount Pictures (Nickelodeon Movies' parent) to bring three live-action movies to theaters.

So far there has been mixed reactions to this.  Some say "No, this will RUIN THE SHOW!".  Others think a live action movie will be VERY KICKASS.  My opinion?  I agree with the latter, that it will be an amazing movie.

This announcement just change down earlier this morning so there is no info on how the crew will be involved (if at all), who will be cast, or even if they will use the same characters and plots as in the show.  What we do know is that Shyamalan will write, direct and produce the films.  Usually known for scarier films, it has come as quite a surprise that Shyamalan was chosen fo make this big screen-adaptation of a Nickelodeon cartoon series, Avatar or not.

Still, there's no reason for us to think these movies will ruin the show.  Give this a chance.  We've all been begging for an Avatar movie to hit theaters, now we have it.  Celebrate!

Oh and voting is still going on for the first round...

Stuff from Nick Mag & DF Fan Awards!
Jan 06, 2007 at 09:01 PM

Our first bit of business tonight is this: we have obtained a copy of the three pages of Avatar "info" in the February '07 Nick magazine!  Thanks to mellomuse, you can view the oages (in pdf format, so you must have Adobe Reader - download here).  It includes a short interview with Zach Tyler Eisen, voice of Aang, and also an Avatar A-Z, where they list things "from Aang to Zuko" in Avatar.  It also introduces a new feature at AvatarEscape.com during the month of February!  EDIT - I was a bit excited last night and forgot to post the link to the article - it's right here.

And now for the moment you've all been waiting for....

The way we're working it this year is the poll is within the site itself.  We will do two at a time until all is complete.  Each week we'll post two new categories in the form of polls on the site.  You guys pick the winners!  It's that simple!  Happy voting!

Avatar: The Lost Scrolls!
Dec 30, 2006 at 09:49 AM

Thanks to FreakishChild for reminding me about this.  Nick is releasing a set of four books or "scrolls" each ed after the 4 elements.  After doing some research, I found this description:

"If you are reading this, you have uncovered one of the four hidden scrolls I have compiled about the world of Avatar. This scroll contains all of the knowledge that I have gathered so far about the Water Tribes -- their history and ure and the great tales of their past and present.

Katara recounts her discovery of the Avatar in the iceberg, Sokka remembers his childhood upon seeing their father's old friend, and Aang tells of his lessons with the Waterbending master in the North. The scroll also contains information about Waterbending moves, Healers, Water tribe traditions, and much more.

Keep this scroll safe, and share it only with those you trust. Beware, for there are many who wish to expose its secrets... "

That''s for the Water one.  And this is for Fire:

"If you are reading this, you have uncovered one of the four hidden scrolls I have compiled about the world of Avatar. This scroll contains sacred information about the Fire Nation -- stories, legends, and facts that I have found so far about this nation -- its history and culture and tales of its past and present.

Katara describes how Aang outwits and defeats the dreaded Admiral Zhao and the Fire Navy, Aang tells how he comes to accept his destiny, and Prince Zuko recalls the time he once captured -- and lost -- the Avatar. The scroll also contains information about leaders of the Fire Nation, Firebending techniques, the spirit world, and much more.

Keep this scroll safe, and share it only with those you trust.
Beware, for there are many who wish to expose its secrets... "

So far Fire and Water are the only "scrolls" to be released.  Earth and Air will be released January 23rd.  I am very excited about these books and I just now placed and order for the Fire and Water scrolls.  Once I have them read, I'll be sure to post updates around here with this new material.

Here are some links to buy each.  It's available for a very low price of $4.99 (plus taxes and shipping).  This surely will give us something to do rather than mope around waiting for the new season!

Amazon.com: The Lost Scrolls: Fire ($4.99)
Amazon.com: The Lost Scrolls: Water ($4.99)

Also, it's worth noting that the same publisher who released these books also plans on releasing a book titled "The Earth Kingdom Chronicles: The Tale of Aang" next May.  Should be some interesting stuff.  Oh, and happy New Year everybody!
