Dylan along with Jake, Alisa, Josh, and Michelle first discuss the recent early release of the Sozin's Comet book in the news segment and then go way in-depth into "The Western Air Temple."...see more
Jake here, and Paramount has released the street date for the season 3 box set! It will be out September 16th, about a month and a half after the last volume DVD is released. TVShowsonDVD has the announcement. No other details are out at this time.
Dylan here. A list of the players chosen for DF Survivor can be found at the Survivor page. If you were chosen read the rules and check back here for more information before we start on May 31st.
Dylan here and our 40th "From the Spirit World" Podcast is up! You can listen to it at iTunes or in the podcast page. [How the heck did we make it to 40?!]
Jake here with some minor movie news. A new article confirms that the Avatar live action movie will begin shooting in Philadelphia sometime soon. Here is the paragraph where Avatar is mentioned:
"The projects include M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender (a trilogy budgeted at more than $250 million) and the eight-figure action flick Transformers 2, as well as smaller-budgeted independent projects and episodic television."
The article discusses how Pennsylvania has become the hot spot for filming new movies (woot PA pride!). And it looks like Paramount is going to put up some big money for the Avatar movies, over $250 million for all 3 (that's not individual, that's for all 3). That's roughly $85 million per film. In comparison, the new Narnia movie "Prince Caspian" was budgeted at $100 million. So while in today's age with $200+ million blockbusters, it is often forgotten a lot of amazing movies have been produced without enormous budgets. The Lord of the Rings trilogy budgeted $280 million as a whole.
Edit: Send in your applications by Sunday Night! This is the DEADLINE!
Dylan here announcing Dongbu Feng's Summer Event, "Dongbu Feng Survivor"! Dongbu Feng Survivor will begin around the end of May and will likely run until the middle of July, right before the finale. This event is not for people that just come to Dongbu Feng for the best Avatar news in the fandom, this is for our regular members who I talk to often. Dongbu Feng Survivor will consist of competing against 17-19 other regular DF members in mostly Avatar related Challenges, competing strategically against other players, and a lot of fun! This event will require you to be here for most of End of May-Middle July, so if you going away for a period of time during the game, you should include it in your application and I can talk to you about it. One thing to note before I give details on how to apply is that this game is totally up to my discrepancy. I can influence the game however I want to (Jake will be participating, not helping me in running it), but I will obviously make it fair for all players, while changing the game up at the same time to make it exciting. Dongbu Feng Survivor will require Skype to talk to other people in your tribe privately (text chatting). You need to download Skype in order to apply. We will use chat for Challenges. More details to come on the event once I select our players.
How to apply: Send me an email at
ASAP! (I will update this with the deadline for applications soon) Fill out the below application with the necessary information and send it to me.
Application Real First name: Chat screen name: Skype screen name: Periods of time from End of May-Middle of July in which you will be away (if any): Why should I chose you? (keep it brief):
Note that who I choose to be on the game is completely up to me and I will likely choice the people who come on DF the most to participate.
PS: Why is this not copying Shay with Distant Horizon Forum's Survivor? Well first, I haven't even seen Shay's survivor, though I'm sure it's great. This event was actually one I was going to do at this time last year, but I bumped it in order for events that a larger part of the fandom could participate in.
