"From the Spirit World" Podcast #39 - 312 Episode Discussion

Dylan here and our 39th "From the Spirit World" Podcast is up! You can listen to it at iTunes or in the podcast page.

Sozin's Comet Book Shipping From Amazon
May 08, 2008 at 06:04 PM

Dylan here and... what? The Sozin's Comet Finale Adaptation is now shipping from Amazon. This is earlier than the May 20th release date. And also way earlier than the July finale. When Amazon says something is in stock, it is usually in stock. I ordered with overnight shipping and it is estimated to come May 13th (because of no shipping on weekends). Will this contain Finale spoilers? We can only hope not or the finale may not be any sort of a surprise like we expected. Thanks to LORDs_angellos for the heads up!

Podcast and 312-315
May 06, 2008 at 03:08 PM

Dylan here. Our 39th "From the Spirit World" Podcast will not be broad casted live, it will be recorded and will be out Saturday. Also a reminder that you can now discuss 312-315 throughout Dongbu Feng. We will be discussing these episodes on the podcast in the weeks to come.

Several Sites Updates
May 05, 2008 at 05:31 PM

Jake here, with a number of site updates:

  • DVD Screenshots from season 2 up through 315.  Our gallery now contains over 28,000 screenshots from episodes 201-315 as well as pics from this year's New York Comic Con.  And a reminder, the Book 3, Volume 3 DVD comes out tomorrow, you are encouraged to buy it and support the show!  Starting tomorrow DF will allow discussion of episodes 312-315.
  • A couple of days and a few flash tutorials and I have made an Iroh soundboard!  Spread the word!  The soundboard contains most of Iroh's most memorable quotes, over 80 in total.  If you see there is one I missed, you can email me the quote and episode, or the audio file, to   Thanks!
  • Jeff (Serpent_Guard) from the Blogs, Podcast and Chat has developed a Mac widget that you can add to your Mac.  It will give you the latest site news, last 15 forums posts, latest blogs and you can can listen to the podcast with it!  Click here to download it.  The images were made by LORDs_Angellos from the Forums and Chat.  Jeff is now developing a gadget for Windows Vista users, so eep an eye out for that!
  • "Audio transcripts" are a work-in-progress.  Basically it is a concept where a bunch of us get together on Skype and record and episode using transcripts.  There's no effects and no narrator, just dialouge.  It's definitely worth checking out!  Right now there's only one episode there, but this week we should be adding several more!  There is also a link under the "Fun Time!" heading on the left.

That's it!  Hope you guys enjoy the latest additions!

Avatar Internet Round-up
Apr 30, 2008 at 04:53 PM

Jake here, with a bunch of news to report.

For one,Newsarama hasa review of the Book 3, Volume 3 DVD.  Note: Does contain spoilers on episode 312-315.   Here is a snippet from one of the responses, though, that I found insightful:

"You know it's funny how people act like this is a new thing, but Nick has done this A LOT of time to other shows...best I can say is All Grown Up, the sequel series to Rugrats, the held off the last half dozen of episodes they had made for like YEARS and when they FINALLY aird them, they were at 6:30 AM! for a few weeks. And they STILL have a few unaired eps to show

Also i think another reason behind this is because they fear how Avatar's outshinned Spongebob to the point where Avatar ENDED Squarepants consecutive winning of "Best animated series" Kids Choice award, I mean look back at it, theyu reduced it to one of hte "Ticker Tape" reveals, they didn't even bother to give it a live annoucement! Spongebob IS loosing momentum and I think they wan tto continue the trend that they feel,m that cartoons are for KIDS! And Avatar hardly does that! I mean it's this reasaon, rumors state, that lead to the demise of Danny Phantom, because the audience watching it were TEENS and COLLEGE students! NOT Kids! So, yeah that COULD be a reason if you ask me"

Next, we have some news on at least one member of the Avatar staff's future.  Head Writer Aaron Ehasz is reportedly teaming up with "The SImpsons'" executive producers Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein on a new Nickelodeon cartoon:

"It’s also reported that Oakely and Weinstein are collaborating with Avatar: The Last Airbender writer and co-exec producer Aaron Ehasz on an animated Nickelodeon project titled Worst Class Ever. The proposed series takes place at a middle school and will feature comedian Patton Oswald (Ratatouille) in the lead voice role. Oakley and Weinstein will also provide voices, and characters were designed by Oakley."

One last thing, IGN is doing an Avatar-in-review-type thing and is reviewing each of the episodes, once a week.  Their latest review is of "The Fortuneteller" and interestingly enough, the reviewer gave it lower marks than "The Great Divide." O_o  EDIT: The latest review is actually for "The Deserter."

Thanks for Ninja Zutara in chat for these links!
