Jake here, and the news keeps piling up! Today, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies announced the release date of the first Avatar live-action movie. It will hit theaters on July 2nd, 2010. Another significant development is the studios have dropped "Avatar" from the title (to avoid confliction with James Cameron's Avatar movie premiering in 2009). So the first movie is now (tentatively, I assume) titled "The Last Airbender." Thanks to Shockerz in DF Chat for this bit of info! Check out this Variety link to see the entire article. |

In what is turning out to be an amazing week where we get news every day on Avatar, I have located this article on EmpireOnline.com , thanks to i_mourn_the_wicked from chat (Josh from the podcast). Click the link above to read the article. It's an interesting read for sure, but there is some "strong" language mentioned once or twice. Among the tidbits is that they will be shooting in Philadelphia and Greenland - that's right GREENLAND, country of about 5 people total and encased in mostly ice. I cannot imagine which scenes could POSSIBLY be shot in an iceland. [/sarcasm] So definitely check that out! |

Jake here with yet another update. Folks, we have been waiting for some major spoilers for a while. AND HERE IT IS! July 29th will see the release of the Book 3, Volume 4 DVD. TVShowsonDVD.com has the following spoilerish info (NOTE: Proceed with CAUTION as the following paragraph contains major spoilers for the finale): "The kids return to the Fire Nation and prepare for their final confrontation with Firelord Ozai, but they discover that the Firelord has plans of his own: he has ordained himself Phoenix Lord and appointed Princess Azula as the next Firelord. In the spectacular 4-part finale of Avatar Book 3: Fire, Aang fulfills his destiny as Avatar and confronts the Firelord in the greatest battle of the series." Wow. Now that's something pretty epik. Click the link above to read the entire announcement. A thumbnail of the cover art is scene to the right, click it for the full-size image. I assume this would include 316-321, the final six episodes, though there is no indicating on the announcement about that. Even so, hope this helps to cool your AWS for a little while! |

Jake here. Well we really couldn't come up with a better name on such short notice. Anyway, DF has partnered with TheAvatarPortal.org to offer you a full week of Avatar fun and New York Comic Con coverage! Starting tonight, there will be a trivia each night in Dongbu Feng Chat at approximately 9:30 pm EDT. AP Admins SOTS and Avatar_FTW will host, and I will supervise. It will be a team event with teams of 3-4 players per team. This will continue through Thursday night. The winner of each nights trivia will be able to submit a question to SOTS and Avatar_FTW to be asked at the Mike and Bryan panel at Comic Con on Saturday, OR through a potential interview with the creators themselves. That's right, they have a possible opportunity to interview the creators at Comic Con exclusively! It's not a sure thing of course, but we will see if they are ultimately granted an interview. Even if the interview is not granted, your question will still get asked at the panel! Teams will be accepted from ALL sites and forums, or even if you don't have a site you can come and join in! Following that each night, there will be an episode played on a UStream feed for all to watch. Episode 307 is scheduled for tonight. Be in chat around that time to get the link! Then on Friday and Saturday, AP will provide a live stream of the two Avatar panels! DF will have the live stream here, courtesy of AP. So at 6 pm EDT on Friday, and 3 pm EDT on Saturday, be sure to be here for the feed! Alisa from DF will be helping the guys from AP in their recording efforts! After that, AP will be releasing a video podcast with highlights of the panels, interviews with members of the fandom and possibly an interview with the creators. We'll also bring you that as well, but the details are to be worked out! Now you know what we've got in the works here! You can put together a trivia team just for one night or for all 5 nights. They can be different teams from day-to-day as well. It's gonna be an exciting week and we hope you all enjoy it! |

Jake here, and I'd like to share with you a "fair and balanced" perspective (Fox News FTQ) on the airdate, looking at it from both sides here. Afterall, Dongbu Feng = Avatar (Dylan says CNN FTQ). Let's first look at it from Nick's perspective. Now I feel pretty confident Nick pays little to no attention to sweeps, so that does not factor into their decision-making. But consider Avatar is going off their network soon, and they need an "exit" strategy so to speak. For some shows this means rushing through the last few episodes and stuffing reruns on weekend mornings. For others, they will air the episodes weekly or bi-weekly and run promos and such. Jake here. Apparently Toon Zone has been contacted by Nickelodeon and told that the flyer floating around the internet is "out-of-date and inaccurate." Here is the story. So no idea when Nick will air the rest of the episodes. Hopefully we will find out at New York Comic Con next weekend! |
